Dudh Kunda Trekking is one of the new and popular trekking trips of Nepal. Dudh Kunda lake which literally means milky lake is situated at the foot of Numbur Himal, locally known as 'Shorong Yul Lha', "Protector of Solu" region. It is believed to be a holy lake and the locals believe that taking a dip in the holy waters will have the wishes granted. Solu region trekking is far less traffic than Khumbu, which is making more cherished and real experience of the Trek. This trekking has been designed to provide and insider’s look at the high mountains and remote Solu and Pike region.Dhdha Kunda Trekking is located in the low region of Everest Trekking or Solu region or Pike Trekking zone.
The trail to Dudh Kunda trekking starts from from Phaplu. Flight from Kathandu to Phaplu by air and follow a route via Salleri- Ringmo - Taksindu- Beni to Dudhakunda. or fly from Rumjatar where you collect Gurung culture. Rumjatar is famous to make woolen mat called 'Radi' - Okhaldhunga - Pike Hill. Pike hill is a famous trekking where trekkers will go to spectacular view of almost all important mountain view of Nepal. An alternative route Jiri -Sivalaya - Bhandar - Junbesi - Dhudha Kunda. It would follow the way to Pike Peak and via Goli Gompa to Dudh Kunda on 9th trek day.
In this trek, we will have spectacular view of Mount Everest, Number Himal, Pike Peak and Everest Himalayan range also Green forest with Rhodendrendon flowers, pine tree,wild animals ,birds such as Mountain Thars, Bears, Leopard, Jackle, pheasant, and Milky lake Dudh Kunda. The trek can be combined with the cultural experience passing through Khaling Rai settlements. This trek can provide one with a close encounter with the unique Khaling Rais of this area.
In every August there would be an influx of devotees of Hindus and Buddhist who come to perform cleansing ritual at the lake. At other time you are unlikely to meet anyone on this rarely traveled trail. A weeklong celebration is held in Dudhkunda by pilgrims and Jhankris (shaman priests) during full-moon nights. Authentic Khaling Rai's and their culture, Sherpa villages and Sherpas culture, rhododendron and magnolia forest, Buddhist Monastery to a series of beautiful lakes of Dudh Kunda which is on 4190m on altitudes is the most revered.
The Bhume Dance, the Chandi Dance and the Naghi Pooja are some of Rai's major rituals. These highlanders (Khaling Rais) believe that it is essential to worship their ancestors and the earth deity in order to continue human existence. Despite being belonged to Kirant ethnic group, the Khaling Rais celebrate the Hindu and Buddhist festivals as well.
We designed two itinerary for this trekking. this one is following from Phaplu flight option and another one is overland option from traditional route from Jiri. But you may choose on your best by which way you like to do it. We would design the itinerary for your pleasant visit to the holy lake.

On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by representative of Independent Himalayan Adventure and take you to your Hotel, Welcome drink serve. We will then have a small briefing about the entire trip with final payment procedures.
Final checking of your trekking equipments. Spend the early part after breakfast, take time to enjoy a day of sightseeing on a guided tour of some of the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding valley. Visit Swayambhunath stupa, also known as the Monkey temple, with its fine views over Kathmandu and many interesting features as well as great stupa itself from 2700 years. Join the devotees, pilgrims and wandering sadhus at Pashupatinath temple. Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal as well as being one of the most important Shiva temple on the subcontinent, situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. After that take your time around Bouddhanath stupa, one of the largest stupa in the world. Explore the myriad temples and courtyards of Patan Durbar Square, also known as the city of Fine Arts. Later the afternoon back to your hotel and simply relax or explore the surrounding yourself.
Early in the morning, go to the airport to fly towards Phaplu (2469m). Enjoy 35 minutes scenery flight and upon arrival at Phaplu airport, trek to Salleri. which would take you only luxuriously an hour normal walk of your first day. While on trek, privileged to see the local market in Salleri and visit the local monasteries including Chewang Monastery.
From salleri follow the trek route via Ringmo to Takshindu (alternatively Traksimdhu). Enjoy the view of Sherpa settlements, walk through the dense woods and watch different kinds of birds on trek route. Local people would perform cultural show In the evening as welcome to tourists.
Erly morning trek from Takshindu to Beni via Sahasra (3972m). the trek would be full of majextic view of mountains Number (Numbur) Himal, Khatang, Karyolung. Also visit local yak farms, locl cheese factory, local monastery and walk through the alpine forest with experience of beautiful landscapes wilderness and bird watching.
Trek to Dudh Kunda Lake (4560m); the Milky holy Lake. It takes around 4 hours trek from Beni to reach Dudh Kunda.
From Dhudh Kunda, start trek to Takshindu and to Ringmo (2700m.). Taste the local suisines of Ringmo the apple wine and Yak cheese.
Trek to Phaplu (2469m) from Ringmo
Take your early flight of 30 minutes to Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel and meet the evening for Farewell Dinner with Cultural program.
Extra day in Kathmandu. We always suggest our valuable clients to make minimum an extra day as Contingency after mountain trekking. You may excursion your self for shopping and relax and pack your luggage for tomorrow departure.
Departure to TIA Kathmandu Airport. Our airport representative will drop you to the Airport.
